New Teac Warranty Policies

Service Policy and Warranty Terms:
Please refer in the first instance to the Owner's Manual to ensure that you have followed all correct installation and operating procedures. In particular please refer to any trouble-shooting guide which may have been supplied with the product.
WARRANTY
1. The warranty is in addition to (and does not exclude or modify in any way) any non-excludable statutory rights you may have (including under the Trade Practise Act).
TERM
2. The warranty runs for the term.
WARRANTY
3. We warrant, TEAC product will be free from inherent defects in materials and workmanship for the term.
4. The warranty ceases if:
the TEAC product ceases to carry the original manufacturer's serial number or was sold
at auction;
the TEAC product is repaired, serviced or interfered with (in any way) other than by us,
or one of our Authorised Service Agents;
the TEAC product is modified or used other than for its intended use;
the TEAC product is damaged by:
normal wear and tear;
accident;
misuse;
failure to properly maintain and service;
infestation by insects or vermin;
incomplete installation;
incorrect operation;
excessive use;
use of which it is not designed;
use of faulty or leaking batteries;
incorrect voltage;
5. This warranty does not apply to any accessory (including any consumable) supplied with the TEAC product (including but not limited to aerials, detachable power leads, earphones, connecting cables, batteries).
6. The warranty does not cover service costs incurred through the installation of items listed as requiring periodic replacement.

If you wish to make a claim under warranty, you must contact Direct Imports (NZ) Ltd.

Your product is fragile. If you send your product to Direct Imports, please ensure that it is packed appropriately.
It would also assist Direct Imports to ensure that the correct repairs are effected, if you provide with the product at the time of your claim a detailed description of the problem you are experiencing.
LIABILITY
1. If you make a claim under warranty, we will assume, unless you notify us to the contrary, that you will be fully compensated for your loss or damage by any of the following:
a. The replacement of the TEAC product or replacement by supply of an equivalent
product;
b. The repair of the TEAC product by us or a Authorised TEAC Service Agent;
c. The payment of the cost of having the TEAC product repaired by an Authorised TEAC
Service Agent.
2. If we provide you with either a replacement or equivalent product under clause 1 (a) you immediately transfer ownership of the original TEAC product to us.
RETURN
3. If we take possession of the TEAC product and if we provide you with a replacement or an equivalent product under clause 1 (a), a repair under clause 1 (b) or a payment for repair under clause 1 (c) we will return the replacement product, the equivalent product or the TEAC product by delivering to the nearest Authorised TEAC Reseller or TEAC Service Agent at our cost.
NOT COVERED
4. If, after we have inspected the TEAC product, we are of the opinion that the TEAC product or alleged defect is not covered by the warranty for whatever reason, you will be liable for any labour, parts or transport costs incurred by us.
5. In this contract: "Our Cost" means at cost, which will be paid by us; "TEAC product" means the product sold to you and appearing under the definition of "term", but does not include any accessories or consumable supplied with any product (including items such as aerials, detachable power leads, earphones, connecting cables, batteries). "Term" means the period applying to the TEAC product as set out below. This period commences on the date of purchase of the TEAC product. "TEAC Service Agent" means a person who carries out, among other things, repair and service work as our Authorised Agent and who appears in lists maintained and published by us from time to time.
TERM
1. All Teac LED, LCD and Combo Panel Product will be provided with a 12 month service warranty effective from date of sale / purchase.
- Proven out of box failure will be replaced.
2. Teac Conventional Television (Tube), including Combo Product, will be provided with a 12 month replacement warranty effective from date of sale / purchase.
3. Teac Reference and Authentic Series Audio Product, including Teac DVD/Mini Hi Fi Audio Product will be provided with a 12 month service warranty effective from date of sale / purchase.
- Proven out of box failure will be replaced.
4. Teac Audio Visual Product (non Reference Series) including Portable and Personal Audio will be provided with a 12 month replacement warranty effective from date of sale / purchase.
Refurbished Goods
All Refurbished Goods1 sold are covered with a 3 Months (90 days) Repair Warranty2 from date of purchase for any defects in material or workmanship under normal domestic use. All other warranty’s terms & conditions remain the same as listed in Product Owner’s Manual with the following exclusion:
- Scratches, dent or other physical defects on Product.
Note:
1) Refurbished Products are customer Returned units, Floor Stock, Discontinued Model or Damaged Carton unit which goes through full inspection, testing and repair by TEAC (Direct Imports N.Z Ltd, as Exclusive NZ Distributor).
2) 3 Months (90 days) Repair Warranty supersedes the original product’s warranty period listed in Owner’s Manual.
Commercial
1. Applies to all Teac Audio Visual Product used in a Commercial Application1 (non domestic use).
2. Refer to Domestic warranty term concerning obligations and limitations.
Note:
1) 3 Months (90 days) Repair Warranty supersedes the original product’s warranty period listed in Owner’s Manual. Service or Replacement will be at Direct Imports (NZ) Ltd discretion.
EXCLUSIONS
Teac product sold prior to 1st September 2008 will be warranted per the terms of our Warranty Service Policy to 31st August 2008.
